(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - The Lebanese Hezbollah resistance movement issued a statement condemning the US opposition to Palestine joining the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization. Hezbollah called the opposition as hostility towards the culture of nations, Lebanon’s Noor radio website reported. The Lebanese groups congratulated the Palestinian nation for winning a full UNESCO membership in a vote Monday and regarded the vote as the international community’s acknowledgment of part of Palestinians’ rights. It said America’s no vote on Monday demonstrated its bullying and arrogant nature and its conceited efforts to dominating international organization. “It showed that America’s enmity towards nations has exceeded the political dimension and reached the cultural aspect,” the statement said. Palestinians won the UNESCO seat in a Paris vote on Monday. The membership bid required two-thirds approval and was passed with 107 countries out of 173 voting in favor and 14 against the bid. Fifty-two abstained from vote. Israel, the US, Canada, Australia and Germany were among the countries that voted against the bid while Japan and Britain were among those abstaining from vote./129
